Ees Wyke cottage is a traditional 19th century 3 bedroomed Lakeland stone coachman’s cottage. It has a westerly facing aspect built into the hillside overlooking the beautiful Esthwaite Water and the Langdale Pikes.

The cottage is set in the stable courtyard within the grounds of the former Ees Wyke Country house – now a small exclusive 5 star country house hotel.  The shared courtyard provides parking for 2 vehicles. There is also a small garage (handy for that wet gear) and a bike store.

The cottage has delightful private gardens to both the front and side of the house. Garden furniture is provided. These gardens provide some wonderful opportunities to feed the wild birds and animals. Woodpeckers, nuthatches, finches, tits, pheasants, squirrels, rabbits and hedgehogs are all regular visitors. A real delight for young and old.

The cottage comprises of:

A traditional open porch with a heavy latch arched front door. This opens up into a traditional farmhouse kitchen/diner. The kitchen is well equipped with modern wood effect units and includes an electric double oven, halogen hob, fridge, washer/dryer and dishwasher. A further fridge/freezer is located in the garage. All modern cooking utilities are provided. The dining area is traditional in feel with its feature gas stove fireplace and farmhouse 6 person dining table and enjoys views on 2 sides over the gardens and Esthwaite.

The kitchen/diner opens into the lounge through its original latch door – a feature throughout the house. The lounge is large and light. Through the double windows you enjoy views over the courtyard and the Langdale Pikes.  It is sumptuously furnished with 2 large sofas. There is a gas stove fireplace to add to the 2 double radiators – this room gets very warm and cosy at night after a day on the fells. A CD player and Freeview Digital LCD TV, DVD player and PS2 console and games help keep you entertained.

A staircase from the kitchen/diner leads you onto a landing. To the right is the master bedroom and the third bedroom. The master bedroom is furnished with a kingsize iron bed and pine furniture. It has fantastic views over Esthwaite and Langdale. The en suite bathroom has a corner bath with a shower over, a wash hand basin with shaving point and WC.

The third bedroom has probably the houses’ best views over Esthwaite. Again this is a double bedroom with a kingsize zip link bed which can be used as a twin room or as a double - please specify when booking. The room is again furnished with pine furniture.

To the left on the landing is the house shower room with electric shower and cubicle, wash hand basin with shaving point and WC. Next door is the large pretty and dreamy second double bedroom – a real girls delight. This room is furnished with kingsize white iron bed and antique satinwood wardrobe, drawers and washstand. The room has an iPod docking station and radio alarm. Once again it has fabulous views over Esthwaite.

Well behaved pets are allowed with prior booking. Customers have suggested we provide towels and we are pleased to able to inform guests that these can be provided at a small extra cost.
